Water, you could be doing it all wrong

hydration celtic salt

We all know we should be drinking more water, thats all we ever get told, it’s one of the most basic pieces of health advice out there. But did you know that how you drink your water is even more important than how much you drink?

In today’s world, most people are unknowingly drinking water that doesn’t actually hydrate them or serve its right purpose in the body purely because we dont get told about MINERALS!

Sources of drinking water:

  • Tap water; often contains chlorine, fluoride, and trace amounts of pharmaceuticals.

  • Bottled water; while convenient, is often stripped of natural minerals and stored in plastics that can leach into the water.

  • Filtered water; if not handled right, can miss something critical: minerals.

When we drink water that's been stripped of its natural mineral content, the actually body struggles to absorb it efficiently. Minerals open up your cells to welcome in the water that is given to them, without the minerals, water just slips through your body, ever wonder how annoying it is how often you have to go to the toilet when drinking the recommended amount of water? How many times have you stopped as its just too much effort? Thats right, its because its flowing right through you, as soon as you introduce back the minerals that are supposed to be in our water the less you have to pee out!

Not to mention the affect it can have on your SKIN, drinking ‘contaminated’ water can cause havoc in the gut leading to all sort of skin issues being worsened or triggered. From acne to eczema, dryness or excessive oilyness, it can also affect your hormone balance which will further affect your skins quality and youthfulness. Lets get your hydration right;

Proper hydration isn’t just about quantity ..

it’s about quality

To truly nourish your cells, you need mineral-rich water that mirrors what nature intended.

So, what’s the fix?

Theres a handful things you can do like; drinking different types of herbal teas, ginger tea, make them into ice teas, cucumber or lemon water, bone broths etc etc but lets get the BASIS right;

Filtered water + a pinch of Celtic sea salt.

First, what does Celtic Salt do?

1. It helps your body absorb the water properly

If you’re drinking loads of plain water but still feeling thirsty or sluggish, it could be because you’re flushing out minerals without replacing them. Celtic salt contains natural electrolytes (like magnesium, potassium, calcium, and sodium), which help pull the water into your cells — meaning you’re actually hydrating, not just peeing it all out!

2. It supports energy and nerve function

The minerals in Celtic salt are essential for things like muscle contractions, nerve signalling, and energy production.
Without enough minerals, your body struggles to function at full power — you might feel tired, foggy, crampy, or just a bit "off."

3. It balances your pH and supports digestion

Celtic salt can help your body stay more alkaline and support healthy stomach acid production — which is key for breaking down food properly and absorbing nutrients. (A sluggish gut = sluggish everything, including your skin. We know how important the gut is!)

4. It provides trace minerals your body craves

Unlike processed table salt, Celtic sea salt is packed with 80+ trace minerals — the tiny building blocks your body needs for everything from glowing skin to strong hair to steady moods.

Adding high-quality, mineral-rich salt to your water will:

  • Replenish essential electrolytes like magnesium, potassium, and calcium

  • Enhance cellular hydration, allowing water to actually enter and nourish your cells

  • Support healthy skin, helping it look plump, clear, and naturally glowing

  • Support ageing and lymph drainage, thats right, drinking right will keep your body and skin looking and feeling youger!

  • Boost energy and mental clarity, because even slight dehydration can cause fatigue and brain fog

  • Balance fluid retention (yes — the right salt can reduce puffiness!)

Why Celtic Sea Salt not Table salt?

Unlike processed table salt, which has been completely stripped of minerals and chemically bleached, Celtic sea salt is harvested naturally, sun-dried, and specific Celtic contains over 80 trace minerals. It’s one of the purest forms of salt you can get! So always stick with Celtic for your hydration and cooking too! (Pure sea salt and Himalayan rock salt is good too, but be careful with Himalayan as its been found recently that chemical dyes are being added to create the pink colour)

Now, how do you get in on all of this goodness?!

  • Filter your water, for beginners a water jug filter will do (ideally later on you want to use a high-quality carbon or have an under sink filter installed, they’re not that expensive or complicated anymore!)

  • Add a pinch of Celtic sea salt per litre of water

  • Sip throughout the day, aiming for around 2 litres

(Just remember: it should taste barely salty — if it tastes like seawater, you added too much!)

Simple, small habit, big payoff!!
